Osborne's Mornington Peninsula Dental Clinic offers
tooth whitening!
Mornington Peninsula Dental Clinic offers tooth whitening. As, like many other dentists, we have found that in chair bleaching was not as successful as the take home trays. Home bleaching offers you the benefit of being in control of your result.
We recommend the very best and latest take home bleaching kits which require a short appointment for the dentist to take impressions of your teeth. These are then sent to the laboratory and plastic trays are fabricated to perfectly match your individual teeth. On your return visit we will instruct you on how to use your bleaching kit. Usually this is a two to three week process to achieve your desired shade.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is tooth whitening and is it safe? Tooth whitening is a process that uses the hydrogen peroxide in the bleach to break down and remove unwanted stains in the teeth. If used under supervison of a dental professonal, is completely safe for your teeth and gums. Bleaching can sometimes cause sensitivity of your teeth to hot and cold but this resolves soon after you discontinue using the bleach. We also offer products that can greatly reduce your sensitivity.
How long will bleaching last? Bleaching will last for as long as you maintain it. A touch up is required a few times per year to maintain your shade otherwise your teeth will return to their original colour. Refills are available from the reception desk.
I have fillings in my front teeth, will these change colour? Whitening will not change the shade of existing fillings. If you are unhappy with stained or discoloured fillings, please discuss this with your dentist at your first appointment.
What causes tooth discolouration? Tooth discolouration can be caused by many things such as smoking, red wine, tea and coffee. Foods such as curry and berries will also lead to discolouration.
